Asher Lane is a Brownfield site with a number of vacant warehouses covering the majority of the land. The site slopes gently from West to East. The Triangular part of the site to the East at the rear of the existing buildings is a flat area of hardstanding and adjoins the Midland Railway Museum Line and the Butterley Reservoir.
The main access road into the site runs adjacent to the existing watercourse, which forms an overflow for Butterley Reservoir. It forms an attractive visual and physical buffer between the proposed Residential development and the existing commercial usage to the South.
The surrounding local area is extremely well kept and consists of mixed residential development of varying style and shape. The site is surrounded by mature trees and bushes which would give a country feel to any future Residential Development.
