Indicative masterplan of Chalgrove Airfield as displayed at our public consultations, July 2018

WELCOME TO THE CHALGROVE AIRFIELD WEBSITE

Chalgrove Airfield is a former World War Two aerodrome near Chalgrove in Oxfordshire. To make better use of surplus public land it was sold by the Ministry of Defence to Homes England in July 2016 and the plan is to create a 21 st century market town with a range of homes, jobs, services and community facilities.

Homes England’s Role

Homes England’s mission is to intervene in the housing market to ensure more homes are built in areas of greatest need, to improve affordability – they are the government’s housing accelerator, with a role to make sure homes are built more quickly. Legally Homes England is an executive non-departmental public body, sponsored by the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government (MHCLG).

Homes England has a track record of delivering homes and the necessary supporting infrastructure on similarly complex sites, including Northstowe (10,000 homes) and Burgess Hill (3,500 homes).
